Okay...so Rachel has let the cat out of the bag and I'm now officially out of the closet. I find this fun and interesting all at the same time. It's like you find yourself just going on and on and then suddenly you catch yourself thinking..."so who the hell is going to be reading this???"
Anyway, I am going to just write my thoughts occasionally about whatever comes to mind, which is a lot some days and then on other days not so much. Some days I will have lots of frustration with work and wedding planning and the big diet/workout plan. Speaking of that, for those of you that are NOT 51, do your work now and don't try waiting until you are in your 50's. It was a lot more fun putting on the weight than it is getting it off!! Of course, I would like to blame those three babies, but they are now all in their twenties, so that is getting a bit late I suppose. Should have had time to work that off on the treadmill by now.
For Steve and I, life has really changed a lot this summer. We have always liked to walk a lot in our neighborhood, be it the ghetto behind us that it is. Steve never liked it so much because there are a lot of big dogs (pit bulls and such), sometimes they aren't in fenced yards and we have been chased on occasion. So, we started last year going over by the baseball fields on Greenwood Road to walk. Nice sidewalks...no dogs. Well, then I went in for a checkup and the doctor actually had the nerve to tell me that all that walking was well and good, but we were going to have to step it up a bit if we wanted to stay active into our "golden years." What? She said we needed weight training and some serious working out. So, I told Steve about what she said and it was like a light bulb went off in his head!!! Of course, I'm talking to a man whose grandfathers lived to be 99 and 100 and he is, I'm sure, planning on doing the same. (so, he's got 44-45 to go!) He dug his bike out and started riding the 7 miles round trip to work most every day, even these 90 degree days!! We joined the fitness center and have become crazy people at the gym. I even sweat!! We are reading labels and cooking sensibly. I take Slimfast to work and drinking enough water that I could do the job of a camel in the desert. Of course, the weight is falling off of Steve like crazy. Me, not so much....much slower....but I'm hanging with the plan...not giving up.
Like Gilda Radner used to say..."It's always something...."
