It's a fact that we all love Sundays. That is, unless you have to work and then you don't like them so much. I suppose if I continue to have trouble falling asleep that I will get back into the blog-writing place more frequently.
The photo above was taken last summer when the hydrangeas and lilies were in bloom. I'm really looking forward to warmer weather so I can get back out there again for some dirt therapy. Nothing else like it in the world.
Steve and I started attending a new church about 6 weeks ago. We were members at Goddard since I moved to Fort Smith. That's the church where the children grew up. As they became teenagers, they wanted to attend First Youth over at the First Methodist Church. They did and we eventually changed our membership to there. But I guess it just never was a good fit for Steve and I. We are not formal worship kind of people, I suppose. We found ourselves going less and less.
Recently, I found myself missing going to church. It was something I had done all of my life. I missed the music and the feeling that you often get that you are more prepared for the week. We started visiting New Life Church, where the music is informal with guitars and drums, the setting is informal with folks in jeans and tshirts, and there is a feeling that we get there that we haven't gotten in a long time. We feel like we belong and that we are where we are supposed to be. The pastor is young....I could be his mother. He has a way of keeping you interested in what he has to say. They plan a lot of outside activities that are available that are things that people could really enjoy being a part of. For instance, they have a group that ride their mountain bikes together...Steve has joined up. They are planning a two night Family Camp in June that we are going to. We have rented a cabin with Betsy and Ed. We also reserved a golf cart to make getting around easier. I feel so old. It is a nice thing for us to be doing. Steve and I were greeters this morning for the first time. I was amazed by all of the former Partners Club members that I saw there. Made me feel so good and happy! I found out my old neighbors on 100th street also attend there....and it was fun to talk to them when they asked about Rachel and Mary Beth's weddings.
I am continuing to dub off the VHS tapes onto DVD's. I hope I finish before I die.....there are so many! It has been a wonderful thing to relive so many of those happy times. Times that we often forget about. We forget about the people that have been important in our lives. We forget how we have laughed and cried together. We forget how we have lived. It makes me so happy to see these and know that living has, in fact, been going on.
Oh yes, I love Sundays!
