Have you ever thought about an incident that happened and simply wondered if God was just having a bit of fun with you that day? That has definitely been the case with our recent house hunting, but more in particular the events that happened over the weekend. Some of you have already heard this one, but I just HAD to blog it because it still makes me laugh and it's already Monday.
Friday morning I spotted a house on the multi-list that appeared to be a contender for the house that we would LOVE. It had all of the specifics we had been interested in and more. It was located on some acreage. I will have to refer to it's location as simply WAY OUT in the boonies on a road I will simply call "M Road" for the sake of privacy. I called Steve and he agreed it looked great...a little out of our price range, but you never know!
I almost called our realtor to get us in for a tour, but we decided to do a drive-by first. And by drive-by I mean it in the best way--just looking, not shooting up the place!
After work we were off. We have become like a tag team worthy of being hired by NASA for our GPS-assisted map-questing selves. I drive. He navigates. It's simple.
We drove on a LOT of rock roads until we found the house nestled back in a huge grove of trees. Nice.
Another tidbit to this story is that while looking at the house during a break at work, some of Steve's co-workers have been really getting into our house hunt and of course, offering opinions. One of the guys knows this house on "M Road" very well and told Steve how great it was but definitely secluded. He also said there's a small lake down the way where some guys get together occasionally and shoot their guns, hang out, etc. Fine.
We arrive at the house having already decided the location was just not likely going to work for us with so much rock road to get back to it. My car, "Baby", isn't fond of rock roads. Since no one was living there, we walked around and had a good look at the pool and surroundings. Nice, but not really for us. Too bad. Another one bites the dust. If the location were a little better for us, it could have been a GO.
Fast forward to Saturday morning when I am taking Koko outside for her morning business and standing there scanning the front page of the newspaper. My eyes were drawn to an article about the arrest of two young men the night before. They were arrested for TRYING TO HANG ANOTHER GUY FROM A TREE! Well, that is bad enough but then I read on and saw the location of this was on our very own M ROAD!!! Woohoo! I just couldn't believe it. I got so tickled at how close we came to being interested in a house in a location where they are still HANGING PEOPLE!!!!
So, on with the adventures of Dianne and Steve. I am sitting here patiently waiting on the home inspector to arrive. He's only two hours late. Not a problem ha.
