Weekend of Christmas, Craps and Pets

Busy weekend for sure, as everyone has this time of year. The weather was cooperative however, so we started out by getting the ladder and hanging the lights. Every year, I promise to trim down the decorations but it is difficult when there are some things that hold such great memories. Steve helps a lot and that is a good thing too. I think he secretly stashes things back up in the attic before I have a chance to go through them!!

At one time, when the children were younger I think we had 66 boxes of Christmas decorations. Yes, people, I know.....but if you've ever been in my house during the holidays you know what I'm about during the holidays. When the children were at home they each had a tree in their room and we had, I believe, four additional Christmas trees of varying sizes: the main tree, a Nutcracker tree, a Disney tree, and the Santa tree. Crazy I know, but that helps explain the 66 boxes!! Plus I've always been a craft nut so I have either made or bought or been given every variety of ornaments ever!!

My turn up on the ladder to untangle and hang the lights. It can be a real balancing act, especially when you get limbs involved! This is one of those moments when we miss our little "roof monkey" Greg who never minded climbing all over the roof to hang lights.

Steve gave in this year and went for the old fashioned colored lights like I grew up with. My dad still hangs lights like these at our house in Wynne across the front of their house. After 16 years of clear lights, it was time for a change!

The end result at nightfall ---I think I hear Santa's sleigh coming!

On Saturday night, Steve and I joined Mary Beth and Jon at an Engagement Party for a high school friend of theirs. Jason was also on my board of Partners Club and his parents had helped with campouts and things like that. Jason Rogne is getting married in January to Steffanie Brown from Dallas. Jason's parents have just moved into a new home and it is gorgeous! They had lots of good things to eat and drink and had a craps table set up in the dining room - and my own son-in-law was running it like a pro from Vegas (I was wondering who is this guy??)

Jon at the table - if he ever has to take up a second career, he may be onto something here....he sure looks like he was enjoying it!!!!!

Jason and his fiance in their bride and groom visors (I should have told Steffanie that I really couldn't see her in hers - she's really pretty!)

Merrill Kelly and his girlfriend join Mary Beth and Jon at the party.

We enjoyed catching up with Steve and Vicki Smith.

Here's my husband that I think may have a gambling addiction now after Saturday night. I think he had a good night, I'm not sure......but he had a LOT of fun. Of course, Steve tends to have a lot of fun wherever he is!!!
Mary Beth checking on who is winning for the night and it looks like the HOUSE is winning!! Oh yeah, and notice the new haircut too! Since the wedding, she has decided to go short for a while. Fits her personality, I think! Sassy!
On Sunday, Mary Beth and Jon stopped by with their new puppy. Steve gets in on the fun. Maverick was so excited about the leaves, trying to eat them up.
Proud puppy posing for the camera.
Proud puppy parents...Mary Beth found Maverick at the shelter and
gave him to Jon for his birthday.

Maverick took over Koko's bed while Koko was in the backyard.....we
had to wash it all because Koko would have had a fit!
Maverick just went and plopped down in it like
he had been sleeping in it all of his life!
Zoie: What more needs to be said except that I
plan to come back in my next life as this cat.
This cat will NEVER need a therapist!
