Fireworks and Dirt Therapy

Happy Celebration to Everyone! The Baers spent the day just the two of us, but it was nice and exhausting. I put the usual flags in the flower beds out front for my patriotic duty. And my friends in the back who apparently think we are NOT in the city limits have shot off fireworks over the course of the last 24 hours....so I have felt the spirit.

We went to Calico County for breakfast this morning, an unusual thing for us to do. We knew we had a lot to do today and thought that would be a good way to get the party started. I haven't been really eating breakfast in over a month, so after the warm yummy cinnamon roll, I was pretty much finished. We went to Home Depot and bought the paint for the kitchen/dining room redo that is in the works. Alas, the watermelon stripes and border are coming down and tuscan is in folks. Our designer (and we all know who is in her fourth year in that) says it was time for it to go. Poor Steve. It took him 5 years to get the kitchen remodel completed last time, with the tile countertop and all. Mary Beth had to help with that or the marriage might have ended! haha! He tackled the painting while I went outdoors for my dirt therapy, which I needed desperately. Of course what started out as a few hours ended up lasting until four this afternoon!
By the way, the photo is the one I took while visiting Rachel at her job in Massachusetts last year. It was getting ready to storm and the flag was really flying...I got the shot just before it began to rain.

We have now fixed a late dinner and rented a cheesy movie (my choice) and plan to "veg out" tonight and enjoy this freedom thing that we have....sure proud to be an American tonight for sure.
