This weekend and most of last week was spent getting caught up on the yard work here at home. Steve and I realized that we must not have done anything much last summer since I was so busy with the wedding and he was indoors remodeling the kitchen.
We have definitely decided to put our house on the market soon, so the yard is really important for curb appeal. I know, because that can make or break my choice to actually take the time to see the inside of the house. I can't believe that we are going to move after 17 years, and every day of our married life together, from this house. What great memories we have made here. I guess if it is meant to be then it will happen. I do believe that with all of my heart. I get so emotionally attached to things...like houses. My friend Connie always says "Dianne, it's just a house." She said that for the first time when I was taking three small children and moving from our house we had shared with their father. I thought I would never love a house like I did that one. And yet I did. She was right. And it can happen again too. Mostly because a house is really not the kitchen, the porches, the way the rooms are set up or even the way the yard is landscaped. A house for me is what we make of it through our memories and what we bring in our hearts. For real, as corny as that sounds....it's just a house until you make it your own. Yes, Connie, you are right. So Wednesday we will take my two best critics who I know will be absolutely honest with us to see the house we are looking at right now. I'll let you know how that goes after Connie and Glo have given it the once over.
So, back to the yard work and dirt therapy, I've included some of my favorite plantings, as well as a photo of Steve in his garden. He's so cute how he enjoys that being "his space" and I let him do whatever to it.
At the end I've included a photo of the apartments behind our fence that are a HUGE part of the move idea. Besides having Cujo living right next door with only a 3 foot fence separating us, we have tons of people without respect for other people's property living behind us. The noise, the trash and all has become too much for me. Cujo didn't help any, of course. Heavens, I hope the people looking at this house never find my blog!!! haha!
Make note there really is green grass in the yard this year that I would have killed for last summer.
